Why Havn’t we gone back

One might ask "why havn't we gone back to the moon?" It's been over 50 years since the Apollo missions. Some of the reasons are listed below:

  • Resources: Nasa doesn't have enough funding to go back to the moon. Really? But we have pleanty of money to spend on the Shuttle, Planetary Satellites, Mars Rovers etc. but we don't have enough resources to put a man on the moon?. With our present technology...it should be alot easier and efficient.
  • The Saturn 5 Rocket, which took astronuts to the moon, would cost in todays dollars more than 1.5 Billion Dollars. Hmm wonder what the cost was in the sixties. I'm thinking it was relatively the same cost in 1960's economy. Today we could build it faster, cheaper and more efficient you would think then 50 years ago.
  • We havn't returned is because "we never went"
  • We already went to the moon so why go back again? Really!! We put men on the space station I don't know how many times and we do experiements in zero gravity. On the moon we wouldn't have to do any simulators, everything we would need would be supplied by mother nature herself. Furthermore an outpost on the moon would be a feat equal to or greater than a moon landing.
  • Nasa keeps changing their priorities. In 2004 the Bush Administration asked Nasa to replace the Space Shuttle. What Nasa came up with was the Constellation program which was going to land astronauts on the moon using not the Saturn rocket but one called "Ares" and the Space Capsule was called " Orion". After Nasa spent just under 10 million dollars over 5 years. A report fom the Government Accountability Office reported that Nasa didn't know how to properly estimate costs and when Obama took office he cancelled the Constellation program. After this Obama signed on to the SLS. Today Trump hasn't dumped the SLS program but cancelled Obama's goal of landing astronauts on an asteroid. Trump hopes to have a manned Lunar mission and a Mars mission
  • Astronauts say that the biggest reason we havn't returned to the moon besides the economic considerations are political reasons. In 2005 Nasa released a report saying that in today's dollars the moon mission would cost around 104.00 billion ( today around 134.00 billion )In todays dollars the Apollo 1960-1972 missions would cost 120.00 billion. Not a whole lot different. So In my opinion the economic reasons are un-warranted. The political reasons would be worth considering.
  • Now for other reasons alot more speculative. Could it be that the Astronauts fould some sort of "alien artifact" on the lunar surface and is keeping it from the general public for reasons only they would know? Could it be we were "Warned" not to re-visit the moon by some "alien civilization"
